8th Annual Firecracker 5K Fun Run
Since this tradition started, the Fun Run, on a looping course through the downtown, has generated $59,000 for local schools. This is a fun run for all ages and begins with a 100-yard dash for the kids. Register online at and designate which Pleasant Hill school you want to receive your registration fees. Late registration can be done before the race in the plaza in front of the Clock Tower on Crescent Drive. The race starts promptly at 8:00 am on Crescent Drive.

Parade Grand Marshal
The Friends of Rodgers Ranch (F.O.R.R.) has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the 2012 Fourth of July Parade. The energetic and dedicated volunteers under the leadership of Denise Koroslev, have raised the awareness in the community about this valuable piece of Pleasant Hill history.

Parade
Our hometown parade has something for everyone. Always entertaining, various groups and businesses participate in the parade, and are enjoyed and cheered by the crowds watching along the route. Some of the groups signed up so far are:
  • Concord Blue Devils – C Team – always exciting!
  • 191st Army Band of the Wild West – welcome back!
  • Tap Dancing Christmas Trees – a new group that will delight and entertain!
  • Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy – Chinese martial arts

The parade starts promptly at 9:30 am at Woodsworth and Contra Costa Boulevard, and snakes through the downtown and along Boyd Road.

Party in the Park
Immediately after the parade, head over a block away to the Pleasant Hill Park for kids games, petting zoo, Buttons Z Clown, inflatable games, and the train ride. Back Forty Texas BBQ will provide a variety of tasty food for purchase. As usual, the stage entertainment at the park is first-rate! Enjoy listening to Jinx Jones and Lumberyard. This year we will be having a watermelon-eating contest for the older kids and adults! Sign-ups will be at the park. Park activities will wind down about 1:30 pm in time for you to take a break and recharge for the evening events!

Evening Events – Food, Tunes & Fireworks
Slow Hand BBQ will be on site by 6:30 pm with tempting food choices to purchase at the College Park High School fireworks venue! Local band favorite, Cover2Cover, will entertain the crowd this year. Our fireworks display continues to grow in both size and popularity. It draws a huge crowd, so be sure to arrive a bit early so you can stake out a good viewing spot. Bring along a blanket or towel to sit on, plus a sweater or jacket for the cool night air.

PyroSpectacular will commence the fireworks show at dusk, around 9:20 pm.
