Effective May 1, 2009 the City of Pleasant Hill Police Department implemented a community information and notification service for broadcasting cell phone text messages and/or e mails to community members interested in obtaining information on events in Pleasant Hill.
Such information will include broadcasts to be on the lookout for vehicles wanted in various crimes like burglaries or robberies. Broadcasts on crimes will occur when there is sufficient distinctive information available such as a vehicle license plate number. Information on events like road closures or other events may also be periodically distributed. Information will be released in accordance with the provisions of privacy laws.
The service will be provided through a partnership with the Nixle firm, a technology company. Interested persons can subscribe to the service by accessing the website at www.nixle.com. Registration for the website is free but text messaging fees will apply to subscribers’ telephones.
A link for signing up for the service and more information is available at the City of Pleasant Hill website: www.pleasanthill.ca.gov or the City of Pleasant Hill Police Department website: www.pleasanthillpd.com.
The Police Department has implemented this service in the interest of providing timely notification to community members on crime and important events and to enhance public safety.
