City Treasurer
The Treasurer is elected to a four year term on the November of each
even numbered year and is responsible for the safekeeping of the City's
cash.
As official custodian of all City money, the Treasurer has
the authority to invest money in eligible securities authorized by
government code and the City's investment policy. In addition, the
Treasurer works with the City
Finance Department in accounting for all revenues and expenditures.
Treasurer Biography
The
City's current Treasurer is Mark Celio who was elected to the office in
November 2008. Mark grew up in the Diablo Valley and graduated from De
La Salle High School. He obtained a BBA in Business Administration from
Loyola Marymount University. There he also won the Ignatian Award for
the top graduate in service, leadership and academics.
After
college, Mark worked as a consultant for seven start-up companies and
non-profit organizations in varying fields. These organizations had
mission statements that ranged from teaching kids to save money at an
early age to housing and educating emancipated youth.
Mark and
his wife Kristin have owned and operated Club 50 Fitness in Pleasant
Hill since February 2007. They have won awards for Club 50's support of
the community. Mark is an active member in the Pleasant Hill Lions Club,
the 4th of July Commission, the Chamber of Commerce (as an Ambassador),
the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, the Knights of Columbus and the local
chapter of Saint Vincent de Paul. Mark and Kristin just welcomed their
first child, Anthony Joseph, in to their family on May 1, 2008.
