Design Awards Program Established

Beginning in February of 2010, the City of Pleasant Hill Architectural Review Commission (ARC) will request nominations from the community for outstanding project designs. Awards will be recommended for projects that exemplify outstanding planning, design or practice methods in architecture, signage, landscaping, or environmental sensitivity (i.e. green building) to encourage superior design and consistency with the City’s Design Guidelines.

Nominations will be accepted for various project categories on a bi-annual basis. Award nominations will be separated into Residential and Commercial categories. Award sub-categories (i.e. Best Architectural Design for a Single Family Home) will generally be established after city staff, or the ARC, has an opportunity to review the types of projects that have been nominated. As a result, award categories may vary from year to year. Awards may be presented to property owners, project architects/designers or project developers, and will be publicized in the "Outlook" and through various other means throughout the City.
Nominations for the inaugural City of Pleasant Hill Design Excellence Awards program will be accepted between Tuesday, February 16, 2010, and Wednesday, March 31, 2010, and should be submitted to the Planning Division, Pleasant Hill City Hall, 100 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill, California 94523.
