The Boyd Road/Elinora Drive Sidewalk Installation Project No. 02-15, Federal Project No. CML 5375 (031) will construct a new ADA compliant concrete sidewalk on Boyd Road between Horten Court and Liahona Court, and Elinora Drive between Gregory Lane and Gladys Drive. The purpose of this item is to consider the acceptance of the lowest responsive, responsible bid from Ghilotti Bros. Inc. for the project and to seek authorization to award the construction contract.
The project will provide for Safe Routes to School and sidewalk gap closure improvements on two streets: Boyd Road along the north side (from Liahona Court to Horten Court); and Elinora Drive along the east side (from Gregory Lane to Gladys Drive).
The project scope at both locations consists of the following key components within the project limits: the installation of new ADA compliant pedestrian enhancements; new drainage improvements; the installation of pedestrian crosswalk enhancements at the Elinora Drive/Gladys Drive intersection; and landscape restoration at both project sites.
The various project elements will provide for new pedestrian facilities to enhance access to the Sequoia Elementary and Middle Schools and the Strandwood Elementary School.
Staff has secured $395,000 in federal One Bay Area Grant (OBAG) funds and two TDA Article 3 Grants totaling $180,000 for the design, construction management and construction of the proposed project scope. The project approved construction budget amount of $883,298 is identified in the FY 2016-2021 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) (Project G-20).
The City Council at their June 20, 2016 meeting awarded a construction contract to Ghilotti Bros. Inc. Project construction is expected to begin in July 2016 and be to completed in the Fall of 2016.
